Swiss Travel Pass FAQ

How much does the pass cost in 2026?

In 2026, prices start at CHF 254 for a 3-day adult 2nd class ticket. Furthermore, they go up to CHF 787 for a 15-day 1st class option. Saver and Youth pricing are also available, and rates are set by Swiss Travel System — therefore, they don’t vary by retailer.

Is it worth buying?

For most first-time visitors, yes — especially if you’re planning two or more intercity train rides plus a mountain excursion. Typically, this pass saves 20-40% compared to buying point-to-point tickets. Plus, it removes the friction of buying a new ticket every time you move.

What is the difference between the standard pass and Flex?

A standard ticket works on consecutive days from your start date. In contrast, Flex lets you pick travel days non-consecutively within a one-month window. Therefore, Flex works better if your itinerary has rest days or a long stay in one place.

Do children need their own ticket?

Children aged 6 to 15 travel free of charge with the Swiss Family Card when accompanied by at least one parent holding a valid ticket. Importantly, the Family Card is issued automatically and at no cost during checkout.

How do I receive my pass after booking?

Your ticket arrives as a digital e-ticket by email — usually within minutes of payment. Simply show the QR code on your phone or print the PDF. Notably, no physical document is mailed.

Does it cover the Glacier Express?

Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass fully covers the Glacier Express, Bernina Express and GoldenPass Express. However, a small seat reservation fee applies for these panoramic trains and is paid separately.
